Show Jesus

 HeavenO Beautiful people!

I trust we're all doing great this Friday night. I just thought I'd share a song with you. This song speaks volumes.

You see as Christians - followers of Christ - we are supposed to carry Christ with us everywhere. Right? I mean, that's how it's supposed to be...isn't it?

Alright, now that we've agreed on that, what does carrying Christ with us everywhere mean exactly? Just think of Jesus all the time? Pray to Jesus all the time? Sing to Jesus all the time? Okay, so, it's true that when you are so into someone or deep in love with that someone special, you think about them ALL THE TIME. C'mon, don't hide that smile, you know you've been there. You know you know what I'm talking about. You think about that person every second of everyday. So, yes, when you're so deep in love with Christ...when He's become your everything, you think about Him all the time. It's inevitable. You just can't help it. You can't help but smile stupidly to yourself at the slightest thought of Him. You can't help but get lost in a 'Jesus is so awesome' daydream when you're supposed to be working on some school-related assignment. Been there? But anyway, that's talk for another day. Let's get back to the subject at hand.

So, thinking about Jesus all the time might be part of carrying Christ with you wherever you go BUT it doesn't stop there. Do I see you raising your eyebrows like "what is she talking about"? Alright let me explain before you get all "what???" on me. Anyway, what I mean is, Carrying Christ with you means what ever you're doing, where ever you may find yourself, with whom ever you may find yourself...you're being an example for Christ. I mean, think about that. The word "CHRISTIAN" itself means follower of Christ. And what does a follower do? A follower acts out who ever or what ever their following. In other words, as Christians, we're meant to be CHRIST-LIKE. Imagine living your day as you normally would but in every situation you find yourself you ask "what would Jesus do?". How many things would you do different based on the answer to that question? I know I would do a lot of things differently. For example, yesterday, being asked to do something, I sorta grumbled about it. Okay, I didn't sorta, I grumbled! Jesus would not have done that, plain and simple.

We are followers of Christ. It is demanded of us to be Christ-like in every situation. I know it's hard, I know we're human, but then again, we are not of this world so we are expected to not conform to it, to not act like every other person because we're not 'every other person'! We are God's chosen (1 Peter 2:9). We need to act like it! You know, you shouldn't have to open your mouth to tell people you're Christian before they know. There should be that Christ-like attitude that just says it all.

Someone stated on twitter: "Your actions speak so loud that I can't even hear what you're saying!"

Of course this was meant in a negative sense. But let's twist it around a little bit: imagine that being said in a positive sense. Imagine that being said about a Christian. Like "man, you don't even need to say much bout this Jesus anymore, if you're following Him then I want to know Him". Or "girl, I thought you were crazy with this Jesus thing but sis, if being a Christian is about being as loving as you are...then I wanna know more". Just think about that! Think about someone saying all those great things about you and your faith and you didn't even have to take out your bible to start preaching. Imagine someone telling you you bring Jesus; Someone telling you they see Christ in you. It might have happened before...if so, great! But make sure it happens tomorrow! If you've never had someone say something like that about you, be challenged! Ask God for help, ask Him to show you how to be MORE LIKE HIM in EVERY situation!

Bottom line is, you shouldn't always have to preach Jesus before people see that there's something different about you!1 Timothy 4:12 talks about setting an example! We are to "set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity". So the way you talk the way you act, the way you love, your faith and your pure lifestyle should be arrows and signs pointing to Christ.

And if you have forgotten, here's a reminder:

"You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven" (Matthew 5:14-16 NIV).

We are the light! Light is supposed to shine. And how are we meant to shine? By our "good deeds"! It's that simple! Wait, do I hear you saying "It's easier said than done"? Well, it's not by our own power but it's the Spirit. Ask God to help you be that example. Ask Him to help you SHOW JESUS. You know, you could do the dishes without being asked, offer an elderly person your seat in the bus, pray for someone going through a trial, call up that friend you haven't heard from in a while, give someone a gift even though it's not their birthday! There are plenty ways to show Jesus. Just ask Him to help you figure it out!

With all that being said, here's the song (a personal favorite of mine):

  1. Hey Sister.
God bless you and thank you.
    You're absolutely right.
We don't have to verbalize that we're Christ's followers. We must show it.
The LORD bless you and keep you eternaly.
