I'm back with a memory verse of the week!
This week's verse is one that had been on my mind last week after my Big Sis reminded me of with when I wouldn't stop fretting about one thing or the other. This verse is still a reality to me this week, so what better verse to learn by heart for the week?
This week's verse is found in 2 Timothy 1:7
"For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind" (NKJV).
To me, this is a verse that speakes volumes. I mean, let's take a moment to truly UNDERSTAND it. This verse is saying: if you're ever afraid, you have absolutely NO REASON to be because the spirit of fear has nothing to do with you. Your Heavenly Father, has given you POWER, He has given you LOVE and the ability to love and He has given you a sound mind...so why worry?
POWER LOVE AND A SOUND MIND are three things that are just completely contrary to fear. Fear cannot reside where these three are. Someone with power usually has nothing to fear. Let's take the example of kings. A king is a supreme authority with power and knowing they have the power and the authority, they usually fear no one and nothing! As I wrote in the my Valentine's day post, there is NO fear in love (1 John 4:18). Fear and love are too opposites. What is more, he who fears nothing has a sound mind.
It's important to understand the debt of these three "fear overcomers" that our God has given us. They are already ours! They dwell in us! We just need to understand this and appropriate them to ourselves.
Friend, what are you afraid of? Or even, who are you afraid of? Certain versions use the word "timidity" instead of "fear". Why are you timid in certain situations? Embrace the boldness you have been given through your God. Embrace the spirit of power, of love and of a sound mind! You have power! The power lies in you! God has given you a sound mind, so, that thing you're worry about (or that guilt) is a lie from the devil!
Understand the importance significance of these three and believe, you will realize just how much time you waste fretting. My pastors says that there more than enough "Fear not"s in the Bible for the 365 days that constitute a year. So each day your God, the King of kings, the creator of the universe is reassuring you...telling you not to fear.
Friend, take this passage with you through the week and meditate upon it. Take this truth with you and LIVE IT. I am determined to and so should you.
"Fear not" He says..."fear not"
Blessings and love!
Oh and seriously, FEAR NOT!
